The Western Maryland Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. notes with deep regret the passing of Mr. David Key, the longtime President of the African American Research and Cultural Heritage (AARCH) Society, on June 13, 2021. The AARCH Society, which was incorporated in 2009, is a community partner of the Western Maryland Chapter of Jack and Jill and works towards ensuring that the voices of African American residents in the area are used to tell their stories. Mr. Key was instrumental in establishing AARCH, providing leadership to the organization, and identifying support for funding for an upcoming cultural and education center. A community candlelight walk and vigil was held for Mr. Key on August 2, 2021.
