The Second Annual Mountain Movers Fourth and Fifth Graders' Spelling Bee was held on Saturday, March 4, 2017.  Congratulations to our champion, Billy-Joe, and our runners-up!  We are so proud of each of our children as they did their best to spell each word.  The children also created artwork and cards for a nursing home in Frederick with the theme of ushering in Spring.  In the "Our Story" component of the activity, the children were asked about each of their stories and those of their ancestors.  They were encouraged to learn more about their families' stories and the history of African Americans.  Next, the children took part in a game of Wheel of Fortune in which they tried to guess the words in two quotes from great black men and women - and identify the source of the quote. They were also challenged to identify the black historical pictures in four collages. Finally, the Mountain Movers played basketball and various sporting activities in the recreational center.
